Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:2
After nine years of working and living on the Mercy Ship Anastasis, I departed the ship June 2005 while the ship was in Monrovia, Liberia (my 16th outreach in Africa.) The World Food Program flight service agreed free passage to Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa. Sierra Leone is the country just north of Liberia.
The Lord had been impressing upon my heart (ever since we began ministry in Sierra Leone in 2001) to begin a ‘house church’ ministry. A house church ministry would look much like the book of Acts church where Paul and other disciples went from house to house bringing the Good News to all who would listen.
I rented a three bedroom house with a garden, room for farm animals and out buildings to house a generator, storage shed, shower house and latrine. I have a local family who lived with me and helped me understand how to live in this African culture and who has a vision for the ‘house church’ ministry.
We ran a four week facilitator training course where four local participants comes to live with us in community with five hours of lectures. Each day we have two hours of work duties, one hour of study, two hours of apprenticeship, one hour of food preparation/clean up, two hours of devotions and prayer. In addition each weekend we have Bible School, Children’s Ministry and mentoring. These participants then receive a certificate of completion and return to their normal lives and begin to develop “house churches” in the sphere of influence each has.
Approximately every six weeks we have an all day Celebration Service with a gathering of all the ‘house churches’. In October (2006) one hundred and thirty five people attended the service with praise, worship, testimonies, prayer/ministry, messages, singing and dancing as well as a shared meat. In January the number of people increased to four hundred and fifty participating from the various ‘house churches.’ (At the end of the year, 2015, six hundred people participated.)
̶We deal with mosquitoes, witchcraft and religious spirits. We need people who will commit to a time of fervent praying for Hope of Glory Ministry that through those prayers we will overcome all obstacles.
̶Volunteers are need to come and work alongside in direct ministry. We invite those who would come and work developing houses of prayer and healing rooms. We invite teams to come and work in the areas of agriculture, construction, electrical, plumbing and maintenance. Perhaps your team could help with the building of a dormitory, a pig pen with a fenced in area and a chicken coop. There is always the opportunity for teams to commit to raising monies for supplies. The need is great for volunteers and we ask that you ask God what He would have you do….and pray. Contact us Today!
̶We need monthly support so that we might have a good base to budget from. We feed twenty five or more everyday, give out Bibles, incur transportation costs, schooling and completion of buildings. If you would like to partner with the Lord and us consider making a donation today. Your help is needed and greatly appreciated. You can donate here via PayPal, or mail your contribution to Sharon Burns, P.O. Box 150843, Lakewood, CO 80215.
May God richly bless you!
In January and February 2016 we toured our now 10 centers in the Provinces doing 3 day workshops.
Training our Children Ministry workers how to Listen to God.
We then show the children How to Listen to God by way of demonstration.
We ministered to 160 children workers with 2,500 children.
